Physical Education
We believe that, 'Physical Education equips pupils by engaging their sporting interest through a wide range of activities and opportunities within school, after school and within the wider community. PE promotes and supports children’s interest in physical and mental wellbeing, promoting healthy lifestyles. PE also supports our Christian values as we encourage the children to share, respect, support, trust and work together during their sporting activities.
By building on this knowledge and understanding, pupils are equipped to develop skilful use of the body, the ability to remember, repeat and refine actions and to perform them with increasing control, co-ordination and fluency. We will enable them to develop the ability to work as a team player, taking the lead and learning to work collaboratively with others. As a staff we will promote an understanding of safe practice, and develop a sense of responsibility towards their own and others’ safety and well-being.
Delivery of PE at John Donne
As a school we ensure that children have access to 2 hours timetabled P.E. These are run by Premier Education who provide us with their expertise to complete structured PE lessons with specific teaching for the curriculum. Our well-balanced curriculum promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of our pupils and prepares them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life.
